Numerous dearly loved kids movies were initially adored kids books. Scores of children’s books that have been around for a very long time have been made into films at diverse times in the past. Most of the films can stand on their own and the majority of the books were already classics. How directly do the films storylines follow the books?

In 2008, “The Spiderwick Chronicles” by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi was made into a motion picture. There are five books in the book series but only one motion picture has been completed so far. It follows the adventure of a family of kids who find a extraordinary book in their new home that leads them into a world filled with trolls and goblins, elves, dwarves and other creatures.

A great kids book that has been made into a pair of films throughout the years is “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. The book was first available in 1964 and in 1971 the motion picture “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka came out. Another film called “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” came out in 2005, with Johnny Depp playing the lead of Willy Wonka. Both movies were quite accurate to the book.

One of one and all’s much loved kids books seems to be “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White. The book was first in print in 1952 and it has never lost its reputation. It is one of the most favorite family books of all times. It was first made into an animated feature motion picture in 1973. A living action film rendering was released in December 2006. Both movies followed the story of the book nearly exactly.

One of the most beloved family authors of all time is Dr. Seuss. More and more of his amazing books are now being made into films. In 2008 with Jim Carrey as the voice of the main character, “Horton Hears A Who” came out. This motion picture was an cartoon feature movie that very specifically followed the story of the book.

“The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, a different Seuss classic was made into an cartoon rendering that showed on TV every holiday season. That adaptation followed the book. But in the year 2000 a big budget film of “The Grinch” came out with Jim Carrey as the Grinch and there were many new scenes and events. “The Cat In The Hat”, also from Seuss was released in 2003 and it too, had extra scenes and events.

One of the highest grossing movie series of all times is from the family books about Harry Potter written by J.K. Rowling. At this point 6 of the 7 books have been made into films with a proposal to make two movies from the 7th episode for a total of 8 movies. This series is the 2nd maximum grossing series in times past following James Bond.

Children’s books oftentimes make terrific movies that the whole family unit can get pleasure from. Viewing the movies and reading the books as a family can make for a quantity of superb family times and great family unit reminiscences.
