During your interview, you need to make a good impression by wearing an outfit that projects professionalism and competency. Dark colored suits that are conservative apply to both women and men. You do not want to distract your interviewer’s attention to your big dangling earrings or for them to be bothered by something else inappropriate.

Punctuality is very important. Arrive early for the job interview. Make sure you aren’t late. Getting there on time shows respect and makes a good first impression. This also allows you enough time to relax for a few moments and perform a personal check-up before the interview begins. Arriving around ten minutes before you were scheduled is advisable. If you arrive too early, just wait outdoors. It is normally wise to research about the location of your appointment and the time it would take to travel. Also, give yourself an extra twenty minutes to compensate for any possible delays on the highway. If you know you will be late, it is common courtesy to notify the other person. Otherwise, your chances are lousy.

Learning as much as possible about the company prior to the interview will give you a substantial advantage over other applicants. Do some serious research on the company itself and take note of the products or services they offer. Learn as much as possible about their type of business, customers, competitors and other related information. This will also make you and the interviewer comfortable in talking about their company.

While in the interview, highlight specific occurrences of how your skills will make an ideal for the specific position.
